The new website for Goldengel, a domestic aid and care service provider based in Wiesbaden, Germany, delivers clearly structured and prioritised content for its users.
When we first started to work with Goldengel we had to take a step back and view the existing website and corporate identity from the viewpoint of a customer, in order to design a completely new corporate identity and structure for them.
The old website seemed poorly structured and somewhat childish.
Soon we figured out, that the soul of the project was not portrayed properly through the existing website. In fact the focus was more on the company than on their customers.
After a first meeting with the chairmen of Goldengel we were able to structure a first approach to a design guideline, that represents an open, minimalist and content-focused, yet returning a sense of personality by using imagery of ‘real’ people rather than photoshop models.
Firstly we had to think of a new strategy for Goldengel – a strategy and rough corporate identity finally led to the new corporate design, a sleek and modern logo and a colour scheme that is modern and inspiring confidence at the same time.
We developed the first few wireframes and mockups for the website upon clarifying all the design features our clients had in mind and adding some creative ideas ourselves. The result is what you can marvel at now.
The previous website was very basic with no dynamic content whatsoever. Our biggest task was to translate what we have learned about the client into a content management system (CMS). We chose WordPress as a base. In addition the new website needed a UI design, that comfortably works on mobile devices, hence we decided to use a responsive theme.
We involved the team of Goldengel throughout the whole development process to find imagery that suited their taste and design the UI according to their special needs.
After setting up the basic informational pages it was time to think about further advantages customers would appreciate while using the new website. Together with our clients we came up with a comprehensive list of features to be implemented throughout the process of development.
One of those is a gift voucher shop we have implemented using the WooCommerce extensions with some custom features. This allows customers to purchase gift vouchers to gift the cleaning and care services Goldengel provides. This was a brilliant idea to increase sales right before Christmas.
Another important tool for our client was the newly realised booking form to allow customers to book their appointments with their “Goldengel” (German for “golden angels”), as well as an application form to give job applicants a chance to apply easily online.
